Ten (10) Early Photographs including Three (3) Tintypes

Assorted lot of ten early photos featuring various subjects, including four older photos of African-Americans, two tintypes, two early baseball photos, photo of whaling, and a novelty CDV: Four images of younger African Americans, including a cabinet card of Ollie J. Robinson dedicated to his sister Minnie of Marianna, Arkansas, a smaller cabinet card photo of three young school age African American women, a trimmed postcard photo of a young African American woman in hat and coat, and a small cabinet card photo of a young African American woman with an inscription on the reverse (The first is 6.5 by 4.25-inches, the smaller cabinet cards are 6 by 4.25-inches, and the trimmed postcard is 5 by 3.5-inches). Hard paper photo of a small child wearing a man's boots, pants, shirt, and bowler, clearly intended to be humorous (4.5 by 3.75-inches). Photo of three Right Whales at a pier with a whaling ship, circa 1900, the harpoon gun visible near the bow of the ship, and a boiler for rendering blubber visible midships (5.5 by 6.5-inches). A fine cabinet card photo of a baseball player in uniform with bat the man having a large "C" and a star on his chest, possibly a very early image of a Cincinnati ball player (6.5 by 4.25-inches). A snapshot of baseball player "Moody Lyttle" making a catch, the man is wearing what is probably a 1910 period Orioles uniform (5.5 by 3.5-inches). A tintype of four men, three standing around one seated wearing a variety of clothes, including rolled-up pants legs, top hat, and long pipes, in an envelope upon which is written, "Clowning (like you) I thought you would like this- Dad when about 21 yrs. old.." The envelope is stamped Mrs. Grace E. Caswell, Lehigh Station Road, W. Henrietta, N.Y. Grace E. Caswell was born in 1875 and died in 1955, and is buried in the Brinstool Cemetery, near Rochester, N.Y. (4 by 2.5-inches). A CDV photo of Mr. William Campbell, the "Largest Subject" in Queen Victoria's Empire. This shows an extremely large man probably seated in a chair that is not visible. The image is by the London Stereographic and Photographic Company (4.25 by 2.5-inches). Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
