Painting Of a Bavarian Boy, with Accompanying Letter
A small watercolor of a Bavarian boy in lederhosen, wearing a hat and holding a switch, signed by the artist. It is in a gilt wooden frame, and attached to the reverse are the remnants of a letter dated 1945, enclosed in plastic and taped to the back of the frame. The signature on the painting is quite small and not quite legible. The parts of the letter on the reverse that are legible include the words, "From Thankfulness," "Thanksgiving letter from a.. heavily damaged by war," and several lines of German script including the words, "S.A. Zone: Bayern (Bavaria) Deutschland .German" and "Munchen (Munich)" and the date 1945.
Size: 9 by 7 by 1 3/4 inches.

Condition:
The painting itself is excellent. The gilt frame is slightly scratched. The letter on the reverse is apparently fragmentary, and most of it is sealed under plastic, so we have not had the opportunity to examine it.
