German Hessian Lifeguard Infantry Regiment Stein to a Musician, Original

Exceptional and extremely rare German military stein to a Musician of the Hessian Leibgarde Infantry Regiment (Gross Herzog) Company 8. The stein is named to "Hornist Parr," whose service was from 1907 - 1909, and has a very fine portrait of the Landgrave of Hesse, surrounded by flags, with the Lifeguard Regiment shoulder tab on one side. All the soldiers are wearing helmets with hand - painted Hessian helmet plates on them, as well as painted details on buttons, the wreath around the portrait, and the birds nests on Musicians' shoulders. The handle is smooth inside, topped by a pewter crowned Hessian lion, connected to a pewter lid with a seated soldier, cradling his rifle, and hoisting a canteen in the air. The lid has sayings regarding Hesse on it, so is apparently unique to Hesse. There is a lithopane in the bottom that shows a soldier and a drummer. The base is unmarked. Size: 12 1/4 inches tall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.
