Currier & Ives Lithographs "Four Seasons"

Four original Currier & Ives lithographs, a set called "Four Seasons," showing idealized American homesteads in the four seasons of the year. They are in matching frames of excellent hand construction. The lithographs are dated 1868 and 1869, and were hand tinted. One retains its original plank backing. Autumn depicts a family harvesting apples; Winter shows a family in a two horse sleigh; Spring shows children by a field with lambs; Summer shows a laden wagon passing a field of grazing cattle. All four include a house of distinctively American architecture. The colors on all four are bright and they are well executed. Size: Each is 12 3/4 by 17 inches. Thickness varies between 1/2 of an inch and 7/8 of an inch. Provenance: Estate of General Joseph McNarney. Processing and shipping in the Continental United States is $65.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
