Civil War Ruby Ambrotype of Infantryman in Patriotic Matte, Full Case

An outstanding Civil War ruby ambrotype image of a Union Infantryman, seated, wearing a frock coat and forage cap, with his belt, cap box, and oval buckle. It appears to have been done in camp, and he is seated in front of a cloth drape that could be part of a tent. The image is in a wonderful patriotic matte with US flags, a warship under sail, cannon, and stars. It is in a full leatherette case with velvet pad and gold stamping around the edges. It is a ninth plate image. Size: 3 5/8 by 3 1/8 inches by 5/8 inches thick. Processing and shipping in the Continental United States is $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

The image is in about excellent condition, as is the patriotic matte. The case has faded velvet, and there is a streak on the back of the case, although the case is quite sturdy and nice.
