Two Massive Bowie Knives, 1 Custom RBH Knife w/ Stag Grips

A superb custom bowie knife by Richard B. Henn of Block Island, Rhode Island. This is one that does not appear in his current catalog, and has been in storage for more than a decade. It is a massive bowie with a stag grip and brass guard. There is a layer of red banded with bras towards the ferrule. The blade is both long and wide, and has the modified saw back that is found on Scottish dirks along the back of the blade. The blade is marked with RBH in an oval, and a small mark on the ricasso, also in an oval. The sheath is cordovan leather, and clearly hand made by Mr. Henn, with rawhide lacing, and an RBH safety strap snap. The knife would be mint, but was poorly stored, and there are spots of black rust on one side of the blade. It is exceptionally well-balanced and extremely sharp. Size: 17 inches long with a 10 inch blade. A large and unusual bowie knife with a blade that is embossed with twining branch decoration. In the decoration are the words Chichen Itza, and Yucatan, Mexico. The pommel is brass, as is the guard. The pommel is shaped like a crown. The grip appears to be highly polished bone. The back of the blade has a hook milled into it, and a length of saw teeth. The sheath is tan, with basket weave. Size: 16 3/4 inches long with a 12 inch blade. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

The first knife has rust spots on one side of the blade, but is otherwise superb. The second knife is mint.
