Three Part Chippendale Dining Table, NY. ca 1770-80

A three part mahogany American made dining table with impressive provenance, in the Chippendale style, from New York, dating from the period of the American Revolution. This table was purchased by General and Mrs. McNarney in 1958 from famed New York Antique Dealer John S. Walton, a recognized expert in American antiques and in particular, early American furniture. Included with the table are the original full page ad by Walton that appeared in the March issue of Antiques Magazine featuring this very table, describing it as "exceedingly rare," as well as Mr. Walton's signed letter in response to the McNarney's letter of inquiry. The letter from Walton mentions the price in 1958 of $3500.00, a significant sum in 1958. Size: 9 feet by 4 feet. Provenance: Estate of General Joseph McNarney.
