“The Club” Bowie Knife & Sheath by E.T. Allen, San Francisco.

 Late Victorian bowie knife and sheath by E.T. Allen of San Francisco. The knife is of classic bowie knife style, with a stag grip, German silver cross guard, and clipped point. It has a brown leather sheath with belt hanger. The markings include “Hand Forged” along the blade and on the ricasso the dog’s head mark and the words, “The Club.” These knives usually have the name of the maker on the ricasso, but on this one that is either missing or damaged by pitting. They were made by E.T. Allen of San Francisco between 1870 and 1893. Size: 9 ¾ inches long overall, with the blade being 5 ¾ inches. Shipping: $35.00.

Condition: Good condition. The grip and cross guard are excellent. The blade has been heavily cleaned and sharpened, and has the remnants of fairly extensive light pitting, with heavy pitting on the ricasso. The sheath is good, but the stitching on the front has become partially undone.
