Sterling Silver Flatware by Gorham, in the Lyric Pattern

A cased set of Gorham sterling silver flatware in the Lyric pattern, with miscellaneous additional pieces included. A handsome mahogany silver chest with brass carrying handles and drawer pulls with spaces for 12 place setting in Gorham's "Lyric" patter, introduced in 1940. The basic set includes: 12 table knives, all with stainless steel blades; 11 dinner forks, each marked "R Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940;12 salad forks eaach marked "Gorham Sterling Pat. 1941;" and "Lyric;" 14 escargot forks each marked "Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940;" 12 dessert forks, in the Lyric pattern, each marked Gorham Sterling Patent 1940; and "Lyric;" 12 table spoons each marked "R Gorham Sterling Pat.1940;" and "Lyric;" 12 larger spoons each marked "Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940;" 13 soup spoons each marked :Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940," and "Lyric;" 12 iced tea spoons each marked "Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940," and "Lyric; 12 butter knives each marked Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940 and "Lyric;" 11 larger serving pieces each marked Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940 and "Lyric. There is also a carving set in the Lyric pattern with a large carving knife, two carving forks in the Lyric pattern, and a honing steel, also Lyric. Additionally there are an unmarked pair of sugar cube tongs, two different sized cake servers in the Lyric pattern, and a larger pair of unmarked tongs. Additionally there is a set of 13 dinner forks in a different pattern, each marked Pat. Sterling; 11 dinner forks in an unknown but matching patter, each marked sterling; and 14 table spoons in a still different pattern, each monogrammed "W," and marked Sterling Patd. 1941; and two small forks in different patterns one marked Sterling, the other hallmarked. There are also three sets of sugar tongs, one marked Gorham Sterling Pat. 1940 and "Lyric," the other two unmarked, two small knives one with stone, the other with red glass handle, and 6 other pieces of different patterns, each marked sterling or hallmarked. Size: 18 7/8 by 7 1/2 by 12 1/4 inches in case.
