Persian Kindjal Dagger with Chain Mail Piercing Blade

A very interesting kindjal dagger, of early Persian origin, with an early chain mail piercing blade that probably dates from the 17th century. The blade is particularly long and very sharply pointed, with four fullers on one side by the hilt, tapering to three fullers closer to the point. The other side of the blade has two broader fullers, with the point being diamond shaped. There are inscriptions on the blade that are of a date later than the blade's forging, with a star and crescent, along with inscriptions, probably in Farsi. The grip is of horn, with white metal mounts. The sheath is leather covered wood with white metal mounts over what appears to be older iron mounts. Size: 17 inches long overall, with an 11 3/4 inch blade. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

There is some black rust in areas on the blade, but the blade is generally very good, with a long, straight point. The grip has three worm holes. The superficial mounts are dull white metal with simple engraved designs, and the hilt and sheath are very good. The scabbard has shrunk over time, and the blade does not go all the way in.
