Liddle & Kaeding San Francisco Webley Revolver

An exceptionally nice Webley R.I.C. revolver in .450 Webley, marked LIddle & Kaeding, San Francisco, serial number 27430. The gun is a high quality Webley R.I.C. revolver, with extensive Birmingham proofs, checkered walnut grips, and a very nice extractor pin screwed into the butt in place of a lanyard ring, which is a less usual feature. The flat of the frame at the breech bears the stamp "Webley's No. 1 1/2 450 C.F.:Below that is the Webley flying bullet logo and W & S for Webly and Son.The gun has a very nice charcoal blue finish, and fine checkering to the grips. Robert Liddle was the premier gun dealer in San Francisco, who partnered with Charles Kaeing from 1859 to 1889. They made especially fine w=quality rifles and shotguns, and imported fine quality pistols and other guns from Britain and elsewhere. Charles Kaeding sold his share of the business to Robert Liddle in 1889. The business closed in 1898. Size: The revolver is 10 inches long overall, with a 4 1/2 inch barrel. Condition:

Condition is very good plus overall, with about 30% of the original charcoal bluing remaining. There is a light coat of superficial rust on some parts from poor storage, but it will easily clean to about excellent. The cylinder in particular retains its bright charcoal blue. The action is tight and crisp.
