Japanese Carved Wood Chest personalized to Mrs. McAuliffe

A carved brass bound cedar chest presented to Mrs. McAuliffe during the time of her husband's post-war command in Japan. The chest is a mate to the chest presented to General McAuliffe, but smaller, and without military insignia. Instead, it is carved with bamboo swaying in the wind. Inside the lid is an engraved brass plaque presenting it to Mrs. McAuliffe from the officers and men of the 34th Infantry Regiment. Size: 16 1/2 inches tall, by 23 1/4 inches wide, by 23 1/2 inches deep and inches wide. Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe.
