Both the pistol grip and forend are checkered. There is a silver colored escutcheon plate on the underside of the butt stock. Henry Eckhardt was born in Hesse-Kassel in Prussia in 1833. He arrived in Sacramento in 1870 and operated a gun shop at 153 K Street until his retirement in 1896.
