Signed ‘Gwen Tafoya S.C.P.’ to base. Hand-coiled and traditionally fired Santa Clara blackware jar. The piece features deeply carved swirling avanyu (water serpent) motifs encircling the shoulder, polished to a high-gloss black finish characteristic of Santa Clara Pueblo pottery. The form displays a rounded lower body tapering to a small neck with a slightly raised rim, consistent with the classic blackware tradition.
