Gloria Kahe (b. 1951, Navajo) Sityatki Reivival Style Vase
A Hopi sikyatki revival style vase by Gloria Kahe (b. 1951). The vase has a cylindrical vertical shape with a subtly rounded base and decorated around with black and red geometric, symbolic motifs of Hopi pottery. Signed on the underside, "G. Kahe."
Gloria Kahe was born into the Navajo nation and is a member of the water clan, but later married into the Kahe family, a lineage of Hopi potters. She learned the traditional techniques and motifs of Hopi pottery from her mother-in-law Marcella Kahe, considered one of the most respected masters of clay from the Hopi Reservation. Gloria specializes in traditional hand-coiled and painting styles, but has developed her own designs to decorate the surfaces.

Condition:Great. One side of the vase shows more wear to the designs than any other, but there is little other wear visible. Please see photos.
