French Model 1874 MAS St. Etienne Officer's Revolver

A scarce French Model 1874 Officer's St. Etienne Arsenal Chamelot-Delvigne service revolver in 11 mm., nearly identical to the Model 1873, but with a dark blue finish, and slightly higher quality features including some engraved details on screws, the loading gate, and elsewhere. The grips are also more detailed, and the overall finish is of a higher quality than the enlisted pistol. This is the officer's version of pistol that was to serve the French military through WWI, and on occasion even into WWII. It was in theory replaced by the Model 1892, but in reality remained in widespread issue. Size: 10 1/2 inches long overall, with a 4 1/4 inch barrel. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $35.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.

Provenance:Goetz collection Fair Oaks California. Acquired from Bud Elmer.

Condition:

Very good plus, retaining almost 80% of its original dark blue finish, with a crisp, solid action. There is some light surface rust from poor storage, but no pitting whatsoever. The bore is good.
