Early Joseph Rodgers & Sons Sheffield Folding Bowie Knife REVISED

A large and early Joseph Rodgers & Sons, Sheffield folding bowie knife with checkered ebony grips, German silver mounts, and a push button release on the grip. It is in an original brown leather sheath. The knife has Joseph Rodgers & Sons Cutlers to Their Majesties No. 6 Norfolk Street Sheffield England. The word “Majesties” proves that this was made before the death of Prince Albert, so dates to the US Civil War or earlier. The blade is also stamped with the Maltese crosses at the ricasso (12.25-inches long overall with an 8-inch blade). CORRECTION: This knife dates to the reign of Edward VII, 1902-1911. Thanks to a knowledgeable and generous customer for pointing this out.
