A wax-sealed vial bearing three paper tags:
- An 1893 sworn testimony by C. F. McGleashan certifying that the contents are a portion of the foundation log of the cabin;
- A tag numbered 303 out of 5,000, featuring the Donner Party committee seal, issued as part of a monument fundraiser; and
- An official edition tag dated 1910.
