Colt Civilian Model 1860 Army Revolver

A scarcer Colt Civilian Model 1860 Army Model percussion revolver in .44 caliber, serial number 186004, manufactured in 1870, demonstrating the continuing popularity of this model of revolver. The gun has matching serial numbers, and retains much original blue on the frame and the barrel. The matching numbered cylinder retains its engraved scenes of Naval combat. The gun does not have the shield cut-outs for a shoulder stock, as it was manufactured for the civilian market. The right hand side of the grip has been decorated with scraps of silver, forming trefoils and other shapes which could be Native American workmanship, or possibly a brand. The silver appears to be sourced from coins. Size: 14 1/2 inches long overall, with a 7 3/4 inch barrel. Condition:

Very good plus condition with extensive traces of original blue on the frame and barrel. The action is crisp and strong. The markings are excellent. There is a small chip of wood missing from the toe of the right grip, and three small pieces of silver appear to be missing from the inlays on the grip.
