Bavarian Infantry Officer's Officer's Sword & Scabbard In Treu Feste

A very fine WWI period Bavarian Infantry Officer's Sword & Scabbard with handsomely etched blade with the Bavarian motto "IN TREU FESTE" (In Steadfast Loyalty) and two narrow fullers. The sword has the distinctive hilt of Bavarian regulations, with brass guard,edge tilted pommel, and sharkskin grip with triple wire wrap. The shield shaped langets are unusual in that they have a raised median ridge. The scabbard is a wartime one, having a coat of black paint, with a single ring mount, and retains its red felt washer.. Size: 37 inches long overall, with a narrow 31 1/2 inch blade. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $65.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Condition:

About excellent overall condition. There is some very minor bubbling to the chrome plating on the bladeon the ricasso, and one small spot on the etching. The grip and hilt are excellent. The scabbard retains about 98% of its black paint, with some bubbling on the reverse near the throat. The blade is straight, and well-balanced, and the hilt is fairly tight.
