Argentine Model 1879 Remington Rolling Block Rifle

A Model 1879 Remington Rolling Block rifle in caliber .43 Spanish. The rifle has a bayonet lug on the left side of the muzzle. It has the three line Remington markings on the tang, and a large block letter "E" on the barrel by the breech. It is complete with original ramrod. Size: 50 1/2 inches long overall, with a 35 3/4 inch long barrel. This excellently designed rifle was only in regular between 1879 and 1891 when they were replaced by the Mauser bolt action repeater. However, many were converted into the Mauser caliber, and others were sold surplus. This one appears to have been sold surplus, as it has seen extensive use. Condition:

Good condition overall, with substantial use showing on the metal. The stock is very dark, with numerous small dents, and there is a small chip of wood missing at the breech on the left hand side of the barrel. There is minor carving aon the butt stock at the wrist, and an unknown stamp nearby. The bore is dirty, especially near the breech, but retains good rifling.
