Superb ruby ambrotype portrait of exceptional clarity and condition of a young woman identified as Mary A. Brown. She is wearing a fancy short sleeved dress, and is seated in a chair. She appears to be in her early teens. The image is in a gold colored oval matte, and is in a half leatherette case. It measures 2 ½ by 3 inches. A faded ambrotype portrait of a bearded man in a coat and stock. The image has a black cloth backing to help it show up, otherwise it is very faint. It is in half of a Union case with a bunch of grapes on the cover. It measures 2 ½ by 3 inches. The half case is excellent. A milk glass ambrotype portrait by Jacob Shew of Sacramento of a woman in a black dress with full white sleeves. She is wearing a very high collar, and has a ring on each hand. The image is in a gold colored matte in a leather covered diary style case with a separated hinge. The image measures 2 ¾ by 3 ½ inches. Jacob Shew was in business in Sacramento from 1849 until his death in 1878, and was one of the great pioneering photographers of California. Mother of pearl inlaid case with portrait tintype of a man with a moustache. The image and case are quite small, but the image is extremely clear.
