2 German Steins 1 Heidelberg Masonic, 1 Drinking & Singing

Two very handsome German civilian steins, probably both Mettlach, one focused on Heidelberg, the other a scene of drinking, singing, and romance. The Heidelberg stein is very handsome and tall, and has images and slogans all related to famous spots in Heidelberg, including the character Perkeo, who was a jester to the Elector Palatinate in the 18th century; a n illustration of the old city of Heidelberg and the river Neckar; a large portrait of the Heidelberg Tun, a gargantuan oak wine barrel in the Heidelberg Castle with a Masonic Compass over it; a picture of the "Gesprengte Tum" or blown-up tower, a Heidelberg landmark. The stein is very well- painted, and nicely colored in shades of brown, blue, green, and red. The handle is topped with a pewter hinge with an ornate finial. The top is pewter with a ceramic center with the "blown-up tower" on it. The bottom is marked 1340 and Germany. Size: 8 1/2 inches at the finial, and 7 3/4 inches on the body. The second stein has a charming and romantic scene of a young woman singing with a woodsman playing the guitar, with an older woodsman with a stein of beer looking on. The pewter lid has a ceramic center showing the woman and the younger man with their heads together, smiling. The handle is smooth, with a ceramic hinge with an ornate finial. Size: 7 1/2 inches tall at the finial, and 6 1/2 inches on the body of the stein. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
