WWII U.S.M.C. MkII Fighting Knife by Camillus

WWII U.S.M.C. mark 2 fighting knife made by Camillus. This is a later war guard marked example. Because it's USMC, most would just call this a ka-bar even though it was made by Camillus. The history there is interesting. The mark 2 fighting knife was adopted by the navy and the Marines in world war two. There were numerous companies that made them, Ka-Bar being just one of them. Interestingly Union Cutlery (ka-bar) didn't get another military contract after WW2 but the name stuck anyway. According to lore, close combat instructors at Camp Pendleton where issued them and referred to them as such. Everyone that went through learned to call them the same because of that.
