Two Outstanding German Steins & an Austrian Cermaic Flask

An outstanding Mettlach stein with a bowling figure and beautiful decoration, along with a stein in the form of a beer-drinking Monk with a Bible, and a small ceramic flask marked Austria. The Mettlach stein is a full liter size, and is stamped on the bottom with a stamp looking like a house and the word Geshutz, and the number 1087A. It has a large central image of a man in a smoking cap and smoking a cigar, with bowling ball in his hand. He is in a beer hall, and is flanked by a group of men drinking and toasting him, and another group smoking on the other side. The motto reads on one side in German, "A Brave Man who can bowl," and on the other side, : Gets a lot of pleasure from Bowling." The large ceramic handle is topped with a pewter hinge with fancy finial, and the lid is pewter with a ceramic center with ivy leaves and red berries. Size: 10 3/8 inches tall. A very handsome stein in the shape of a Monk with a foaming stein of beer and a Bible. His head forms the lid, attached to a pewter hinge. He is quite jolly looking, and is well-painted. There are no marks on the bottom. Size: 9 3/4 inches tall. A ceramic flask shaped to look like a part cracker, with Austria stamped on the closed end. The other end is open, missing a cork. It is stamped in ink, "P't app'd fr." This is possibly a ceramic hand warmer, intended to be filled with hot water, but it could also be a flask for alcoholic beverages. Size: 7 inches long. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.
