State of California National Guard Commission for August Heilbron

A framed California National Guard commission as Major and Ordnance Officer for the Fourth Brigade to August Heilbron, an important figure of early Sacramento business, government, and culture. The commission dates from 1887, and is signed by Governor Robert Waterman. Heilbron died just six years later. The commission is also signed by the Secretary of State and the Adjutant General. The commission is in an inexpensive frame with glass. Size: 24 by 20 inches. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition: Excellent. The sides of the document show minor signs of having been exposed to dampness, but the main part is untouched.
