Samoa Carved Wood Kava Bowl

Samoa carved visi wood kava bowl on 23 legs. Dimensions: 6"h x 20" diameter. Circa 1920. Provenance: Daniel and Pearl Crowley. Kava, drunk during ceremonies, is made from Ava plant root and mildly intoxicating. Kava bowls are usually made with four legs however a style emerged in the 1920s with legs surrounding the bowl. A bowl with 23 legs is rare. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $100.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Crack in the wood on the bowl rim and down the side, however it is unknown if this was a natural feature of the wood or later damage. Repair to two legs. Please see photos.
