Robert Clark (1920 -1997) Study, "Green Thumb"

Framed Robert Clark (1920-1997) egg tempera on board study, "Green Thumb". Signed lower right. Titled, size and dated (1974) verso. Dimensions: 13"h x 17"w; (overall) 23"h x 27"w. 8 lbs. Provenance: Zantman Art Galleries 1978. The Estate of James Tracy, Tiburon, CA. He is best known for his realistic renditions of the rural American scene executed in egg tempera. Born in Minnesota in 1920 he received his formal art training at the Walker Art School and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He came to California in 1948 where he became a staff member of the Long Beach Museum of Art and later a staff artist at the Los Angeles County Museum, leaving that position to become an independent painter. He moved to a rural part of Central California to paint the rustic subjects that would become his hallmark. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $55.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Good condition, small area of in painting visible measuring 1 1/4 x 1/2 inch on lower white border. Staining on corners of lining. Please see photos.
