Pair of Portrait Miniatures — John Howard Payne & “Old Hickory” (Andrew Jackson), early–mid 19th century

Two finely executed oval portrait miniatures, each approx. 3 ¼ x 2 ½ in., mounted within larger oval openings in ebonized wooden frames. One depicts playwright and poet John Howard Payne (1791–1852), celebrated author of the beloved song Home! Sweet Home!, signed “Oliver” at lower edge. The other portrays U.S. President Andrew Jackson (1767–1845), known as “Old Hickory,” signed “Bone.” Both works retain delicate color and detail, and are presented on dark fabric mats with gilt liners.

Dimensions: Frame: 9 ¾ x 7 ½ in.; Miniature: 3 ¼ x 2 ½ in.

Provenance: Estate of Ron Lerch.

Pickup & Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup. Shipping via FedEx Ground: $40 + 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing).

Condition:Very good; light surface wear and toning to mats; frames with minor scuffs.
