Description: 62.5” x 26” Large Fold Out Map attached to Vol XII of reports of explorations and surveys from the Mississippi river to the Pacific Ocean, 1853-55. Within this report is the second title page ‘Saint Paul to Puget Sound’ by Isaac Stevens, 1855, explorations for a route for a pacific railroad. The book also contains color plate illustrations of Native American and wildlife scenes of the West, including an attractive color plate of bison roaming the western plains

Condition:The Condition of the book is poor to fair. Spine cover completely missing. Wear to cover. Map is fair to good, in good condition with the exception of a 6” tear where it attaches to the back of the book. This map was commissioned under the direction of Jefferson Davis, Secretary of War and completed by Isaac Stevens, governor of Washington territory and printed 1855 by the US government in Washington.
