Massachusetts Arms Co. .31 Caliber Adams Pocket Revolver

A handsome example of the Massachusetts Arms Company manufactured Beaumont-Adams pocket revolver, of which only about 4500 were manufactured between 1855 and 1861. Massachusetts Arms also manufactured a .36 caliber model of the same gun, most of which were purchased by the United States Navy. This pocket model was marketed as being a safer and more compact competitor for the Colt Pocket. This example is 5 shots, and is clearly marked on the top of the frame: MADE FOR ADAMS REVOLVING ARMS CO. N.Y. BY MASS. ARMS CO. CHICOPEE FALLS PATENT MAY 3, 1856. APL.7, 1857. It is serial number 227. The gun retains much of its original blue finish. It has very finely checkered walnut grips. It is complete with side mounted loading lever, and right side mounted safety lever. Size: 7 7/8 inches, with a 3 inch barrel. Shipping: $35.00.

Provenance:Goetz collection Fair Oaks California. Acquired from Jack Zanotto

Condition:

About very good plus outside condition, retaining most of its original blue finish, with excellent grips. The action does not function entirely well, as the advance mechanism appears to be missing its spring, and the action only works in single action.

Estimate: $500 - $1,000
