Kriegsmarine Minesweeper Badge (Schwerin Berlin)
Kriegsmarine Minesweeper Badge maker marked "FEC. OTTO PLACZEK BERLIN" and "AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN". Flat pin. Whole badge has a nice curve to it.
The badge was authorized 31 August 1940 for Minesweeper vessel crews. It could be awarded for: completeing three operational sorties, getting wounded during an sortie, ship sunk due to enemy action, exemplary conduct in the execution of duties, compling a specially dangerous mission in a mined area, 25 days or more escort duty.
Processing and shipping within the continental U.S $30 plus a 1.5% insurance fee.
Condition:
Tomback laurels look very nice, however very little of the frosted gilding remains. Silver wash on mine explosion worn, bronze showing through on high points.
