Knights of the Red Branch Irish Fraternal W49 Bowie Knife

A very rare Knights of the Red Branch bowie knife and sheath, in the style of a Western Cutlery W49, but made by the Lilley-Ames Sword Company. Both the initials of the Knights of the Red Branch and the maker's name are engraved on the blade with a gold wash. The knife is an exact copy of the Western Cutlery W49, and it is possible that the knife was made by Western, and sold unfinished to Lilley-Ames. It has a polished wooden grip, brass guard, black leather sheath, and brightly polished blade with gold enhancements. The leather of the sheath is somewhat heavier than usually see.Size: 14 5/8 inches long with a 9 3/8 inch blade. Knights of the Red Branch were a fraternal organization similar to, and possibly connected to the Hibernian Knights. They were particularly active in the San Francisco Bay Area, especially in the 1950s. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.
