John Peel Memorial Music Box and Jug by Crown Devon Fieldings
Excellent combination jug for whiskey and music box by Crown Devon Fieldings, commemorating the life of John Peel, famous English huntsman and subject of the song, "D'ye Ken John Peel?" This is a scarcer form of the many related pieces made by Crown Devon, and seldom shows up in this kind of condition. It is decorated with the song's lyrics, and scenes of hunting, as well as a bust of John Peel himself. The handle of the jug is formed by a fox running up the side of the jug. The jug has its original ceramic stopper and cork. It imarked on the base: Crown Devon/ Fielding's/ Rd. No. 796688.
Size: 8 1/2 inches tall and 7 inches wide.
Condition:
The jug itself is excellent plus. The cork is partially intact. The music box works intermittently.
