Japanese Wooden Buddha Playing Flute Robed Statue

Quite old possibly Japanese wooden statue of Buddha in long robes apparently plying a flute, although there is no flute with him. His hand are in the proper position for a holding a flute and he is looking down, with his lips in a flute-playing embouchure. He has a round symbol on the back of his robe, as well as on his sleeves. He is standing on a carved wooden integral base. His hair is in a top knot. The statue retains some of its original paint, with his robe and hair painted black with gold trim, he has a gold painted top knot, and his face is red. Size: 37 inches tall by 10 inches wide by 7 inches in depth.

Condition:

Aged, with cracks in the wood on the right hand side and the back, but very solid.
