Hendrik Grise was an American postwar and contemporary artist largely know for his expressionist work. He was born 1914 in Michigan and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago as well as the Dallas Museum of Art. His work was rarely exhibited when he was alive, but has gained popularity recently due to the vibrancy and forms he portrayed. He died in 1982 in Monterey Park, California.
