Half Plate Amrotype of Israel Matthews in Peck’s Patent Union Case

A clear ferrotype image of Israel Matthews of Winthrop, Maine, from April 27, 1861. He is in a formal coat and tie, full bearded. His cheeks are tinted pink. The image is in an oval matte, in a near mint Union Case by Peck, with a fine purple velvet pad. There is a paper label on the glass with the identification.

Dimensions: 6 3/16th by 5 inches.

Condition:The image has minor bubbling on the dark surfaces. The case is nearly mint. Please see photos.
