Grandfather Clock by Jno. Walker, 230 Regent Street, London

A superb grandfather's clock in Mahogany by John Walker of 77 Cornhill and 230 Regent Street in London. He worked from the 1750s on, but particularly achieved fame in the Victorian era, making fine clocks and watches. He was awarded prize medals in competitions in both Britain and France for the outstanding quality of his work. This is one of the finest examples of a grandfather clock by him, featuring 8 chimes and two weight systems on pulleys. The face of the clock is silvered, with Roman numerals and a second dial. The case is massive neo-Gothic style with fleur-de-lys shaped crenelations at the top, with beautifully carved decoration including twining leaves, crosses, and more. The inside of the back of the clock has an ornate cut-out panel backed with red cloth. Size: 96 inches tall by 23 inches wide and 12 deep.
