General Anthony McAuliffe Photo with General George S. Patton at Bastogne

An 8 by 10 photo of General McAuliffe having the US Distinguished Service Cross pinned on him on Dec. 30, 1944 by General George S. Patton. General McAuliffe is wearing his field uniform, and had apparently just been awakened from a deep sleep by Patton saying, “Wake up, you lazy bastard, I’m going to pin a medal on your chest!” Patton is wearing his famous Colt Single Action, awarding McAuliffe the Distinguished Service Cross. This and more is handwritten on the back of the photo by General McAuliffe’s niece. Dimensions: 8 by 10 inches. Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $35.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.
