Flora Danica (1753-1883) Set of 46 Original Danish Engravings
An Age of Enlightenment atlas of botany produced in Denmark, and was originally proposed by GC Oeder, who at the time was professor of botany for the botanic garden in Copenhagen. The set of engravings included, lichen, fungi, and plants. The illustrations were created by Michael Rossler and his son Martin Rossler. The engravings were created in sets from 1753 to 1883. This set of engravings is uncolored and undated. The Roman numeral at the top right of each engraving is the engraving number.
The Flora Danica engravings set was inspiration for the Danish Crown Prince Frederick in 1790 to order a porcelain dinner set made with exact copies of the engraving plates from Flora Danica.
