Carved & Polychrome Painted Venetian Style Wall Mirror

Mirror with a hand-carved and painted frame, probably Venetian, circa 1850. The mirror itself is the shape of an upside-down shield. The frame is flamboyant in its caving and decoration. The frame is carved with a cockle shell like fan at the top, above separately carved flowers. There is a scene of roses in the center below that. with flowers painted on a rich butter-yellow all around the frame, interspearsed with panels of light teal paint with formal sprays of flowers on them. The edges and back of the frame are painted gold. Size: 29 by 18 by 2 inches. Provenance: Estate of General Joseph McNarney. Processing and shipping in the Continental United States is $130.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance.

Condition:

Very good. The frame has a slight patina of age, and there are some very minor dings along the edges and at the top. The mirror is old, and the silvering is speckled.
