Army Flak Badge (Hermann Aurich)

The Army's FlaK badge was instituted in 1941 and differed from the Luftwaffe version by virtue of its Wehrmacht pattern eagle at the top of the wreath. The badge was awarded as a a qualification badge to Army Infantry FlaK Units and Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery Units. Being only a qualification badge, it was worn below all forms of combat award. The reverse has a round-shafted needle pin, which is quite straight and even has a slight rat-tail curve up at the end. The right side of the solid reverse has molded in relief the distinctive "HA" logo of the firm "Hermann Aurich". Includes a certificate of authenticity from Bill Shea of the Ruptured duck, a highly respected 3rd reich dealer. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S $30 plus a 1.5% insurance fee.

Condition:

This example is outstanding, with the majority of the original finish in the dusky, dark patina tone. Traces of lighter silver remain on the eagle wings, and more of the finish remaining on the wreath (somewhat less on the reverse, which has more of a silvered look).
