8 books from the "Rivers of America Series: The Columbia, The Kaw, The Charles, The Mackenzie, The Connecticut, The Kentucky, The St. Johns and The Mohawk. All 8 titles are First Editions in Dust Jackets. All published by Rinehart. 1. The Charles by Arthur Tourtellot 1941 this is copy #355 of the signed "Boston Edition". Black cloth with top edge dyed red. Slightest rubbing at the corners no names or marking. Signed on limitation page. Jacket is unclipped with slight fade to spine. 2. The Kaw 1941. Grey cloth with top edge dyed green. Some tanning on two preliminary pages from a narrow piece of paper or an old bookmark. Otherwise, book with slight rubbing to extremes. Unclipped jacket bright and fresh. Quite light loss at top rear panel next to the spine. 3. The Kentucky 1942. Green cloth with top edge green. Contemporary owner bookplate opposite the half title page. black ink mark on endpaper. Jacket is unclipped with rubbing along folds and at spine ends. 4. The St. Johns 1943. Tan cloth with light blue top edge. Light soil to edges of cloth. Tape shadow top of endpaper (Note: this is not an ex library copy. Something was simply taped to the endpaper at some point. 5. The Connecticut by Walter Hard 1947. Beige cloth with blue top edge. Light tanning along edges of cover. Inscribed and signed by Hurd to Connecticut notable Odell Shephard on the endpaper. Also laid in is a postcard from Hurd to the person ordering the book and discussing its gifting to Shephard. Small gift inscription to Shepherd from the book buyer also on the endpaper. Jacket is unclipped with light fading to spine. 6. The Mohawk 1948. The book is red cloth with blue top edge. Some damp staining to bottom rear cover of the book which bleeds into the jacket. Not overly intrusive staining as it is on the bottom rear corner of the book and jacket. No names or marking. Jacket is unclipped with Light wear to extremes. 7. The Mackenzie 1949. Blue cloth book with light fade to spine otherwise clean.. Jacket unclipped with light loss top spine. 8. the Columbia by Stewart Holbrook 1956. Dark blue cloth with light blue top edge. This is copy number 547 of the Lewis and Clark Edition. Signed by Holbrook on limitation page. The Jacket is price clipped but the book retains the original mylar overlay with the yellow "Lewis and Clark Promo".
