169th Baden Infantry Stein w/ Soldier & Photo of Prince of Baden

Exceptional Baden 169th Infantry Regiment stein of the highest quality, named to Reservist Michel, Regim. No. 169, Lahr.1910- 191, .with the usual decorations found on German military steins, but with additional adornments that are very rare. There is a border of Iron Crosses at the base of the pictures of soldiers' lives, with a fine figure of Germania wearing an eagle crested breastplate in the center, surrounded by the flags of German states, with an epaulet with "169" on it. and the very lowest level has a border resembling epaulets. There are rings of oak leaves above the illustrations, with a band with a motto above that, "Bruder Stokt die Glaser an, hoch lebe der Ressruemann!" Above that is the hinged lid of pewter with a scene of infantry in battle against cavalry that extends all the way around the lower part of the lid. On top is a very fine figure of a seated infantryman with a pipe in one hand and the other with an open-lidded stein with a sign dangling from it with a pewter framed photo of the Prince Margrave of Baden. The handle has a crowned Baden eagle on its top, with a German order on its breast and the shield and coat of arms of Baden in one paw. It is numbered 1019 on its base. Size: 15 inches tall and 6 inches wide at the handle.

Condition:

Excellent condition. The pewter is toned from age, and the photo of the Prince is yellowed.
