Overview

This themed auction is timed around the Grass Valley Old West Show of which the late Steve and Donna Howard were regular exhibitors and faithful promoters. Steve’s love of California history and the old west is obvious in his collection of western decor, advertising, gambling and cowboy gear. Not only did he collect with a keen eye but he was constantly educating and promoting the field he loved.

The old west was a vocation for Steve. He was an early beneficiary of the 1980s tech boom but left his Silicon Valley job to pursue his passion. First as a gun show promoter with Bobby Macon and Brad Witherell and later as the owner/ auctioneer of Past Time Pleasures. He was a traditional dealer/collector keeping the best for his personal collection.

The legacy of a person can be marked in a variety of ways. We believe Steve’s legacy is marked by the items he chose to surround himself. They represent a lifetime of thinking, living, and preserving.
