The workshop of Clayton Bailey is unlike anything you’d imagine a traditional artists space to resemble. Perhaps that’s what makes him a great artist. He saw things differently and he approached life differently. He was a bohemian for sure but he was also disciplend and very hard working. The volume of art and whimsies he produced in a lifetime would only be possible if he wasn’t anything other than fully devoted. The other unmistakable, charictoristic of Mr. Bailey was humor. At his best he was frugal, creative, mechanical and funny. He collected discarded material from the dump from which he invision a robot. He then had the skill to build it and overlay it with a splash or two of humor. It’s really quit a remarkable skill set. When reviewing this collection recognize it is an opportunity. This much Bailey material will never be available again.
